at the house. Olmi Cappella has two restaurants, and there are a couple more in the area. Prices are generally quite reasonable - from around 15euros
up to 30 or 50euros plus wine for menus in the smarter restaurants in Bastia, Calvi and l'Ile Rousse.
In Olmi Cappella there is a village shop - open morning and early evening every
day except Monday. Travelling shops - bakers, butchers, grocers, cheese and dairy products, greengrocery, fish
- visit the village during the week and will call at the house by arrangement.
The Giussani is one of Corsica's best-kept secrets - a lush valley
covered in chestnut trees and cork oaks, ringed by mountains, dotted with old villages and criss-crossed by ancient
footpaths and bridleways, yet only 35 minutes' easy drive from the nearest beach. Here you will find a relaxed,
peaceful lifestyle.
There are many amazing walks starting from the house, for example up to the Col de la Battliglia where there is a good restaurant, or down to the Pont Genois at the Tartagine river. Olmi Cappella is the main village in the area. Access to the centre of the island - Ponte Leccia,
Corte, Vizzavona - is easy, making it an ideal base to explore Corsica.

'I thought I would drop you a short line to say a huge thanks
for making Casa Altiani available to us for our fortnight in Corsica. I suppose we were once clients of yours before,
when we travelled with Corsican Places to Lama. Four years later it is still an island that has something very
magical about it " especially as you leave the coast and head towards the mountains. We loved every minute.
Casa Altiani is equipped to such a high standard. But more than that, the house feels loved. The pool was simply
fantastic and the infinity edge came as a surprise bonus that didn't fail to make a jaw or two drop. The house
has a real sense of being away from it all and in an authentic village location. You must be very proud. Once again,
thanks for letting us into your slice of Corsican heaven.'
'What a wonderful place for a holiday - all we hoped for, and a lot more: we've all fallen in love with the place
and there are tears this morning on leaving. Huge thanks to Xaviere for all her help. /too many lovely places to
mention all of them, but we particularly enjoyed the walk from the church here down to the river, driving through
the Asco Gorge, Sant'Antonino, the beach just west of Ile rousse, and dinner last night at A Terrazza. - fantastic!
Will definitely return.'
'Really fantastic villa in a truly beautiful part of the world. Our week here has passed much too quickly - lovely
weather, good food, wine and company. Plenty of exercise. Happy children and relaxed parents. We will return!'
'Thank you for a wonderful holiday home - solitude, scenery, hiking, kites, electric storms, swimming, bakery and
biscuit factory etc. etc. Calvi beach splendid for younger members but something for everyone from one year old
birthday boy to 70 year old.'
'Had a fantastic week walking, drinking and eating too much. Casa Altiani is a fab house and we've enjoyed every
minute. Magic time - thanks very much. Don't want to return to reality!'
'This is a long overdue e'mail to say what a magical house you
have in Corsica & thank-you so much for allowing us to stay in it. We had a superb time & the house proved
perfect in terms of being beautifully
cool, having such character & brilliant living space & wow - what a pool & a view. We befriended a
no of people in the village (largely by virtue of our blonde children who they seemed in awe of); met the donkeys;
consumed far too many croissants & pain au chocolat from the shop/baker and walked our socks off in the mornings
& then spent lazy afternoons by the pool. There was then much giggling & story telling late into the evenings - all in all perfect. Sadly we didn't quite make it to the Fireman's Ball though! Once again - many thanks
for the use of your beautiful home.'
I
just wanted to say how much we have enjoyed staying at Casa Altiani
over the last two weeks and thank you for letting us your beautiful
house. Of course we knew there were mountains, but we
were not prepared for the enormity of them or to have such amazing
views from the house. It was utterly breath-taking! We
got out and about a lot and I think we got quite a feel for the place
and loved it. Lots of long walks, mainly after
4pm(it was very hot!),
wonderful river scrambles in the Tartagine, beach trips, two lovely
Corsican concerts, one in Corte and one in the local church, the
village Fireman’s Ball and many delicious meals. It was also super
to share it with two great family friends.

Corsica |
This is a beautifully renovated Corsican manor house, which would be called a "
Casa di Sgió " in Corsican or "Maison de Maitre" in French. The original owner would have
been an important landowner similar to our Squire. The main structure of the house dates from the 18th century
but the foundations and cellars are probably much older.
Set on a hillside overlooking the whole of the village of Olmi Cappella with views
to the often snow-capped mountain ranges of central Corsica, Altiani is 3000 feet above sea level but less than
an easy hour's drive from a choice of Corsica's north-west coast beaches (Lozari 35mins, Ostriconi 45mins) and
within easy reach of major towns like Ponte Leccia, Corte, L'Ile Rousse, Calvi, Bastia and St Florent, and Cap
Corse.
Set in about an acre of hillside terraces - one of which holds the 12metre by 6metre
swimming pool - there's plenty of room for children to play. Around the pool there are sunbathing areas and above
it a partly shaded terrace for outdoor dining.
From the upper terrace you enter the house via the main door into the dining hall
(left) from which there's a double bedroom, shower-room, cloakroom and separate wc. A vaulted passageway leads
to a twin bedroom and the large farmhouse kitchen and scullery with washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher,
fridge-freezer and microwave.
